Creating nick.gehring.me

The cool kids call this a colophon. Here are the guts of nick.gehring.me…

  • I am loathe to point out the “HTML5” in this site, but there is some. I use this buzz-friendly term to describe tags in my content, including section, article, time and others. This makes my site no better than any other. I just think it’s forward (or even present) thinking.
  • Ditto CSS3. Look! There’s some box-shadow and border-radius tags!
  • This site features a basic “responsive design.” If you are using a modern browser, grab one of the browser corners and drag it while viewing this page. See how the content adjusts itself as you adjust the window size?
  • Like many sites I’ve created, this is managed through WordPress, an incredibly flexible piece of blogging CMS software.
  • When you click on a navigation item, such as “About,” I use a little AJAX to pull the appropriate posts for that tagged category.
