President’s Retrospective Looks Forward

The Kent State president recently passed five years at the university. To celebrate this occasion, the marketing department put together a retrospective Kent State magazine. Usually this means I disassemble the magazine’s contents into a web site. This magazine, though, presented a unique opportunity: why not create a tablet/iPad-friendly reading experience?

With only a week to plan and execute, I developed this iPad magazine prototype. Its contents are pure HTML rather than a native application, which would have taken a tremendous amount of development time and waiting to get into Apple’s App Store. One site also works across multiple devices, including a desktop browser and mobile phone. (It is not optimized for mobile phones but could be.)

This approach could be made into a magazine framework for future iterations of the Kent State magazine.
